Common Questions

How much does it cost per member?

Pono Outdoor Program is a private educational association supported through monthly member contributions.

Our full-time Monday through Friday program is $600 per child, per month, due on or before the first of each month.

To enroll, there is a one-time, non-refundable $600 deposit required at sign-up. This deposit secures and holds your child’s membership status in our program.

For simplicity and in alignment with our association bylaws, all contributions are made by cash deposit directly into our designated bank account. This keeps our process consistent, transparent, and easy for all families.

Where is it located?

Pono Outdoor Program is located on Maui, Hawaiʻi—situated in a natural, outdoor setting where students can learn through hands-on experiences in ʻāina (land), culture, and community. Our location provides easy access to forests, streams, and culturally significant places that support our nature-based educational approach.

Is there obligations if traveling?

As a private educational association, Pono Outdoor Program operates through mutual agreement and shared values rather than contractual obligation. Families may withdraw from the program at any time with a 30-day written notice.

To maintain your child’s active membership status, simply ensure the monthly contribution is paid in advance. Payment for the upcoming month secures and holds your child’s membership within the program.

We understand that family comes first. Whether you have visiting relatives, travel plans, or special family commitments, we fully support your time together. We believe the strongest foundation for our keiki begins at home, and our program is here to complement and uplift that connection — not replace it.

How fast can we get enrolled?

Our enrollment process is simple and efficient. Begin by completing the form under the “Enroll” tab on our website. If space is available, we will schedule a phone conversation with you, as we value transparency and want to personally answer your questions before welcoming you into our association ʻohana. Following our call, you will receive a link to download and print our association documents. Once your deposit is made, your child officially becomes a member. You will then begin receiving our monthly newsletters and a supply list, as our program materials differ from traditional public schools. When you feel ready, your child may begin their journey with our association.
