Our mission at Pono Outdoor Program is to reunify humanity with nature. Inspiring students to reach their highest potential as free-thinking, creative, sovereign human beings with a lifelong love of learning, we offer self-directed education to member families and their children while faithfully connecting with nature entirely outdoors from an indigenous perspective.

 

Here on the island of Maui, we teach through exercising the rights, customarily and traditionally exercised for subsistence, cultural, and religious purposes with the guidance of ahupua‘a tenants who are descendants of native Hawaiians who inhabited the Hawaiian Islands prior to 1778.
